Liverpool have snapped up Arsenal’s lead doctor Gary O’Driscoll.
The Premier League leaders had been looking to bring in Dr O’Driscoll as a replacement for departing head of medical services Andrew Massey.
O’Driscoll has been on the staff at Arsenal since 2009, and was kept on at the club even after a raft of staff departures following Arsene Wenger’s exit as manager in the summer of 2018.
The highly-respected O’Driscoll has also held positions with the British Lions and Ireland’s rugby team.
The Mail reports he held talks with Liverpool and has now decided to take up the tole at Anfield.
Arsenal were determined to keep hold of O’Driscoll, but he was keen to return to the north-west.

The Gunners are reluctant to let him depart until a replacement is found and have already started advertising for a new head of sports medicine.
Northern Irishman Dr Massey is set to leave Liverpool to become the new Director of Medical at FIFA on March 1.
The popular Massey’s departure is being seen as a huge blow to Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool after he spent six-and-a-half years as a key figure in the club’s medical department.
Massey outlined his role in an interview with the Reds website in November 2017, saying: “I head up the physio and sports science departments as well as the medicine department, so I’m looking at the overall performance side of things while also still doing the first-team doctor job.
“Jurgen’s philosophy is very much that we’ve got to run further, run faster, run quicker than every other team because if we can do that then the skill will take over.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
