Liverpool made it five wins from five this season and 14 in a row in the top flight courtesy of a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Newcastle United at the Anfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The home team were stunned when they fell behind after seven minutes with Jetro Willems netting the curtain-raiser after he was set up by Christian Atsu.
Sadio Mane equalised for Liverpool in the 24th minute curling a pinpoint finish into the top corner after being found by Andrew Robertson.
The Senegalese forward got his second of the game 11 minutes later following a through ball from substitute Roberto Firmino.
It was Mane’s 20th goal in his last 21 league starts at Anfield.
Mohamed Salah got the hosts’ third with just under 20 minutes remaining when he played a beautiful one-two with the irrepressible Firmino before carrying the ball past Fabian Schar and sliding his finish into the bottom corner.
The Reds will now turn their attention to Tuesday’s Champions League away trip to Napoli.
