Loan Defender Hopes For Celta Stay

Wesley Hoedt hopes to turn his loan deal at Celta Vigo into a permanent transfer from Southampton at the end of the season.

Celta are currently battling against the drop in the Spanish top flight and are unlikely to put any plans in place in terms of transfers until they know what division they will be playing in.

Hoedt joined the La Liga outfit on loan for the rest of the campaign in January after falling out of favour with Saints following Ralph Hasenhuttl’s arrival as manager.

The Spanish club have the option to turn the deal into a permanent move and Dutchman Hoedt has confirmed he would be keen to join Celta on a permanent basis.

“At the moment, the decision isn’t mine,” he told Faro de Vigo. “It depends on how the season goes, first. “I like being here, but I still have a contract with Southampton.

I’m currently playing for Celta and I will give my all to play my best football. “Like I said, we’ll see what happens in the summer but, of course, I would like to continue in this great club.”
