Ademola Lookman was an unused substitute as Barcelona came from a goal down to beat Atlético Madrid 2-1 on Sunday, at the Metropolitano Stadium in LaLiga, with Fermín López scoring both goals.
Lookman has made 11 appearances and has just one goal in the Spanish topflight this season.
The result restored Barcelona’s three-point lead at the top of the table (33 points from 12 games) heading into the international break. Real Madrid sat second on 30 points after beating Valencia the day before, while Atlético dropped to third on 28 points.
Atlético started strongly and took a deserved early lead in the 10th minute. Julián Álvarez provided the cross for Giuliano Simeone to finish from close range.
Atlético continued to threaten, with Álvarez nearly adding a second as his shot going through Joan García’s legs but gathered by the Barcelona keeper.

Barcelona gradually improved, and in the 45th minute López equalized with a sharp left-footed finish from inside the area after the ball fell to him following defensive indecision.
In the second half, Álvarez missed another chance after his attempted lob went over the bar before Barcelona then took the lead in the 66th minute.
Lamine Yamal played a precise through ball, and López swept a first-time shot past Jan Oblak for his second of the game (his seventh league goal in 11 appearances this season).
Lookman will now shift his attention to the Super Eagles, who will take on Tanzania in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations double-header.
The first leg comes up in Uyo on November 13 while the reverse tie is billed for November 17.
