Sevilla coach Pablo Machin wants his side to return to winning ways when they take on Lazio in the Europa League on Wednesday.
Los Rojiblancos will take a 1-0 advantage into the second leg of their round-of-32 tie at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. However, the victory they secured in Rome last week is the only win they have claimed from any of their last five games in all competitions.
The Andalusians were comfortably beaten 3-0 by struggling Villarreal in La Liga last time out and Machin has now underlined how important it is they return to winning ways this week.
“Tomorrow is a very important match for us, we need to get back to winning,” Machin told reporters. “Losing is never good, we want to win at all costs. We need to keep our heads held high, we’ve been through worse periods. “It’s part of football, especially when you’re a squad like ours with big goals. It’s all in our hands, we must win.”
Machin has also underlined the importance of Sevilla making it through to the last 16 of the Europa League. “Lazio is a great squad and has nothing to lose,” the 43-year-old said. “We only think about Lazio, we need to pass this round.”
