Madrid President Perez Branded C. Ronaldo, Mourinho ‘Abnormal’

Spain’s newspaper El Confidencial has published leaked audio clips from Real Madrid President Florentino Perez, who branded Cristiano Ronaldo and José Mourinho ‘abnormal’ back in 2012.

Ronaldo and Mourinho, who is the current manager at AS Roma, were at Real Madrid when the audio messages were recorded.

Mourinho spent three seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu, winning 127 of his 178 games in charge of Los Blancos.

Cristiano Ronaldo had joined the La Liga giants in a €94m move from Manchester United in 2009 and became the most prolific player in the history of the club with 450 goals in 438 appearances.

“He’s crazy. This guy is an idiot, a sick man. You think this guy is normal, but he’s not normal. Otherwise, he wouldn’t do all the things he does,” Perez said about Ronaldo back in 2012.

“Mendes does not command anything in him. Just as he does not command anything in Mourinho.

“These are guys with a terrible ego, both spoiled, the coach and him, and they don’t see reality because both of them could earn much more money if they were otherwise.

“These are two abnormal because we are talking about a lot of money in the field of image rights.”

Perez also hit out at club’s legends Raul and Iker Casillas, who are still working at the club after their retirement.

Florentino said he is considering taking legal action against El Confidential for the leaked audio.

“The published quotes were part of conversations secretly recorded by Mr. José Antonio Abellán, who has been trying to sell the recordings for many years without any success,” the 74-year-old said in an official statement.

“I find it surprising that they have been published today by El Confidencial, despite the time that has elapsed.

“They are isolated quotes that were part of conversations and have been taken out of the wider context in which they were made.

“I understand that the fact that they have been published now, so many years on from the time the conversations took place, owes to my involvement as one of the driving forces behind the Super League.

“I have placed the matter in the hands of my lawyers, who are examining the course of action to be taken.”
