Magpies Should Sign Rondon – Quinn

Micky Quinn has urged Newcastle United to sign Salomon Rondon permanently this summer. Venezuela international Rondon arrived at St James’ Park on a season-long loan deal from West Brom last summer, with Dwight Gayle heading in the opposite direction.

Both players have impressed this season in the respective leagues and there are growing reports suggesting the temporary deals will be made into permanent ones.

Former Newcastle forward Quinn, who netted 57 times from 110 appearances during his three-year spell at the club, says it is a no-brainer for the north-east outfit to sign Rondon on a full-time basis.

“I always thought he’d be an excellent signing,” he wrote in his column for The Chronicle. “If he receives regular service, I’m convinced Rondon can be a 15-goal-a-season striker. “I don’t think he’s quite a 20-goal-a-season striker, but he is certainly capable of reaching double figures – and he should get more than 10 this term.”
