Mahoney Eyes First Team Opportunity

Bournemouth winger Connor Mahoney wants to play ‘week in week out’ next season ahead of his return to the south coast.

The 22-year-old has been on loan at Birmingham for the entire campaign, making 32 appearances for the Championship outfit, and believes he has done enough to warrant demanding more game time.

Mahoney still has two years on his contract at the Vitality Stadium and wants to feature on a weekly basis but if that is not possible with Eddie Howe’s side, he would have no problem about returning to Birmingham on loan for a further season.

He told BirminghamLive: “I will meet with the gaffer down in Bournemouth, just have a little chat about the season, what he thinks I need to work on and how well I have done. “I have got a few years left there but I will reiterate to the gaffer I need to be playing week in, week out. “I think this season I have proved to a lot of people that I should be in a good environment and playing football each week.

“That’s something me and him will look at and go from there. “If the gaffer did want me back here (at Birmingham) and it was right for my parent club, they want me to go on loan again and get a good season in, and they were interested, I wouldn’t think twice about coming back for another season.”
