Manchester United set an unwanted record after suffering a shock 2-0 defeat to newly promoted Hull City, in their first Premier League fixture on Saturday.
Super Eagles star Semi Ajayi and Noel Mendy got Hull City’s goals in the 17th and 38th minutes respectively.
Ajayi volleyed into an empty net, reacting quickest to a rebound, after the United defence failed to deal with a corner kick.
Mendy then doubled the lead as he nodded home a well floated set piece past the United keeper.
According to OptaJoe, the defeat means United have lost on the opening day of a league season to a newly promoted side for the first time in their history, having won 10 of the first 13 instances (three draws).

Also, United have lost their opening league game in consecutive seasons for the first time ever in the Premier League.
In their opening fixture against reigning champions Arsenal, the Red Devils lost 1-0 at Old Trafford, thanks to a Riccardo Calafiori first half header from a corner kick.
Michael Carrick’s side would hope to bounce back from the defeat to Hull when they host Ipswich Town in their second Premier League match next Sunday at Old Trafford.
