Manchester United’s winless run continued after they played out a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park in Sunday’s Premier League fixture.
United went into the game on the back of four straight games without a win, recording three draws and one defeat.
For Villa they could not replicate their impressive performance few days ago when they beat European powerhouse Bayern Munich 1-0 in the Champions League.
Marcus Rashford had United’s first big opportunity in the 5th minute but was denied by Emiliano Martinez.
Just three minutes later Morgan Rogers went close for Villa but could only find the side netting.
In the 12th minute Villa we’re forced into an early change as Ezri Konza went off injured and was replaced by Diego Carlos.
In the 56th minute Youri Tieleman tried his luck from distance but saw his attempt miss the target.
The best chance of the encounter went to Bruno Fernandes from a free-kick which came off the cross bar.
The draw leaves United in 14th position on eight points while Villa are 5th on 14 points.
With eight points (two wins, two draws, three defeats), this is United’s lowest tally in their opening seven matches of a league season since 1989-90 (7), when they went on to finish 13th under Alex Ferguson – his lowest league finish in charge of the club.
