Mane denies Reds’ title arrogance claim

Sadio Mane says Liverpool are confident of landing the Premier League title this season but denied the squad have become arrogant. The Reds are four points clear at the top of the standings after 23 games and history suggests they will go on to claim a first top-flight crown in 28 years. Only one team in the last 10 years has started the year leading the Premier League and failed to go on to finish the campaign in first place. However, the side that let the lead slip was Liverpool in the 08/09 season and they have been warned to learn from past mistakes.

With Manchester City having got the better of Jurgen Klopp’s men at the start of the month and likely to push the Merseysiders hard until the end of the season, Mane says they aware there can be no slip-ups if they are to stay top of the league. “We have experience now,” Mane told the Liverpool website. “Of course we are confident if we’re winning – but not too much, we know what can happen. We are still professional footballers and we’re still going to try to take it game by game. “The season is long and we have many games. Making pressure for ourselves doesn’t help. Why not just try to win games until the end of the season?”
