“Mane Didn’t Leave Liverpool Because Of Low Weekly Wages’ —Agent

Sadio Mane’s PR agent Bacary Cissé has hit out at suggestions the Senegalese international left Liverpool to join Bayern Munich because his wages were not high enough.

After spending five seasons at the Reds, Mane joined Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on a three-year deal.

However, there were reports that Mane decided to leave Liverpool due to his low weekly wages despite being one of the key players.

Some media reports stated that Mane was on £100,000 which placed him below the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Alisson Becker, Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

But according to The Mirror, it is believed that at Bayern Munich he will earn a staggering pay packet of around £360,000/$440,000 per week.

But Cissé has debunked the report, positing that at Liverpool the star forward was in fact earning more than what was being reported in the media.

Cissé told TV5MONDE: “Those are false rumours. We didn’t want to talk about that.

“A player of Sadio’s calibre can’t be earning the salary that people are speaking about. The numbers circulating are completely wrong.

“Sadio was already earning more than that when he joined Liverpool from Southampton. He extended his contract in 2018 and his salary was much higher than the numbers circulating in the media.”

During his time with the Reds Mane won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

He is the current CAF Player of the Year having won the award in 2020.
