Medvedev Ready For Nadal Test

Daniil Medvedev says he isn’t intimidated by the prospect of taking on Rafael Nadal in the Rogers Cup final in Montreal. Medvedev overcame fellow Russian Karen Khachanov to secure a place in the final and set up a first ever meeting with Nadal.

The 23-year-old, who will also be contesting a Masters 1000 final for the first time in his career, has won one of his four meetings with Novak Djokovic and has lost every time he has faced Roger Federer.

However, Medvedev insists he relishes taking on the biggest names in tennis and is looking forward to coming up against Nadal for the first time. “It’s fun to play them because that’s what I have been working for all my life.

As a kid, I saw them already winning Grand Slams on TV,” Medvedev told reporters.

“I would never expect to play against them, especially in the finals of a Masters 1000. “I won’t be intimidated. I want to win every match I play. Every match I play I want to win.”

He added: “I’m playing very well right now. I believe if I am able to play like this, it’s not going to be easy for Rafa. It’s going to be a big battle.”
