Football legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi could be set to play together on the same team for the first time ever.
The pair have battled it out over the past two decades as the most dominant stars of their generation.
They have developed a legendary rivalry, facing off against each other on 37 occasions for club and country.
But now reports out of Argentina (via The Sun) claim that the pair could finally be set to play alongside each other, under surprising circumstances.
The stars could be reunited for the farewell match of their former team-mate Carlos Tevez.
The 42-year-old retired in 2021 while playing for Boca Juniors, his boyhood club with whom he started his career.
But TYC Sports claim that Tevez has arranged to loan the side’s 57,000-capacity La Bombonera stadium to host a farewell match to bookend his relationship with the club.
A provisional date for some time in December has been targeted for the fixture, with Tevez having ambitious plans to create a memorable clash of some of the sport’s biggest names.

Tevez hopes to field a starting XI comprising his closest friends from both his professional and personal lives.
While the opposition would feature players that he teamed up with at various points in his career.
Notably, Tevez featured for Argentina alongside Messi, and played for two seasons at Manchester United with Ronaldo.
Other clubs who could be represented among the target number of 60 guest players include Corinthians, Manchester City and Juventus.
The plans are in their earliest stages, and it is not clear which side Messi would play on if he were to agree to feature in the matchup.
