Rayo Vallecano boss Michel has compared Sunday’s trip to fellow strugglers Villarreal to a final.
The pair meet at Estadio de la Ceramica with Rayo looking to end a run of six straight defeats which has plunged them back into the relegation places.
Villarreal have the joint-worst home record in La Liga but were boosted by beating Zenit St Petersburg on Thursday to continue their progress in the Europa League.
However, they would likely swap that European success for a domestic one on Sunday and with so much on the line, Michel believes the game will have the feeling of a final around it.
He told reporters: “I expect a good Villarreal, it’s a final for both of us, what matters to me is to have a great Rayo Vallecano “There are always things to improve and nobody likes to lose, but the work has been very good. “I see the motivation and I see the players very prepared. The tension of being down there sometimes worries them but I see awareness.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
