FC Midtjylland are ready to cash in on the current top profile of their striker Paul Onuachu before he features for Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, Completesports.com reports.
Onuachu, all things being equal, will be named in Nigeria’s final 23-man squad for the AFCON finals, and a big performance in the competition could see his value increasing, but the Danish club are prepared to sell the Nigerian if they receive a suitable offer for him before the start of the competition.
“But we have decided we will sell him (Onuachu) before the tournament starts if we get what we demand for him. That’s a bit of a lottery game as Paul’s value can increase if he does well in the tournament,” FC Midtjylland sporting director Svend Graversen told tipsbladet.dk.
The 24-year-old was linked with a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray and Genk of Belgium in January, but both clubs failed to match Midtjylland’s valuation of the striker.
Onuachu has scored 22 times in 40 matches across all competitions for Midtjylland this season.
He has scored 74 goals in 181 matches in the FC Midtjylland shirt.
The lanky forward scored on his full debut for the Super Eagles in a friendly encounter against the Pharaohs of Egypt in March.

I’m sorry to tackle you sir. You are wrong. Shane Long on Tuesday evening scored the quickest goal in Premier League history. The Southampton striker took only 7.69 seconds to open the scoring in a 1-1 draw at Watford, breaking the record that former Tottenham Hotspur defender Ledley King had held for nearly 19 years.Apr 24, 2019
