Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has weighed in on the controversial Victor Osimhen’s social tirade at former Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George.
Osimhen in the video lashed out at Finidi for questioning his commitment to the national team.
There were calls for Osimhen to be banned from the Super Eagles for his action.
Finidi also recently said Osimhen has not apologised to him even after he reached out to the striker.

Mikel admitted while the forward’s reaction may not be ideal, he understands why the player need to defend himself.
He praised Osimhen’s humility and acknowledged that respect must be mutual.
“Every time I speak to him, he’s very humble, respects people. As I said, respect is reciprocal. I respect you, you respect me. I think this situation with the Nigerian coach, where he blew out, he just felt it wasn’t fair because the manager didn’t protect him, Mikel said on Obionepodcast.
“He said he had a conversation with the manager, everything was recorded, and the manager just threw him under the bus. He was really pissed off, so he came out to defend himself. Maybe the way he did it wasn’t the best, but he had the right to speak out. I have nothing against Victor [Osimhen] for that, and knowing your worth isn’t arrogance.”

Let’s move forward
“Knowing ur worth, isn’t arrogance” I love this clause from Mikel’s perspective.I have reiterated on this notion over and over again assault can be provoked. U cant provoke an assault from someone and afterwards expect the person to apologize to u no matter who u are. That’s madness. Finidi is our legend. We love him for all the joy he brought to us. But we cannot support him casting aspersions on Victor Osihmen just because he is the coach and expect Osihmen to stay mute . My bro respect does not work that way. Pls that episode has come and gone . let CSN stop revisiting it. We neither expect Finidi nor Osihmen’s apology letter.let the lessons we have all learnt from the whole matter be our guide moving forward.
Mikel, you were also very stubnorn during your playing days or do you want us to start unearthing stuffs about yiu?? Sbeg allow sleeping dogs to lie, abeg u. This matter is too over flogged besides, Osimhen has moved on and infact already scoring goals. Moreso, finidi who we know is merely transferring aggression should go and rest or blaze up, none cares. The SE he singlehandedly manhandled is back to life and that’s where all attention must be from now on. CSn, una too, nór be everything dem dey publish.
Mikel obi you are a fool….
Instead of you to play a peace advocate and tell osimhen to go and apologize you are there capping…
Monkey post you are the bigger foolish for insulting a legend like mikel
@ Monkey post, just passing. I have never used harsh words any one here but ur cup is full. I’m compelled to let u know for insulting Mikel obi on this platform u are cursed; u and ur generation. God punish u. Idiot of ur type.Animal
Osimhen was wrong. Can he do that at his club. Lately Conte banish him from training did he lay curses on Conte never because if he does his career will be over, Some of those coaches he respects like Gattuso did not win more trophies and didn’t play better than Finidi. We should learn to respect our own. After all it was a local coach Amunike that gave him and others chance to play in U 17. Mikel when you were playing did not lash or insulted Mourinho you never did.
Oh wow…………@Kenny, you just goofed biggest time. I can see that most of this guys criticising Osimhen and supporting Finishi are themself failure Incorporated, highly ignorant and empty headed.
How can you dare compare Gattuso with Finidi? For starters, Gattuso was a FIFA World Cup Winner in 2006, e be like say you still dey crawl at that time
As a player, Gattuso mainly played in the centre as a defensive midfielder, although he was also capable of playing out wide.[5] He initially played for Perugia, Salernitana and Rangers, though he is mostly remembered for his time with AC Milan in Serie A, where he won the UEFA Champions League in 2002–03 and 2006–07, the Coppa Italia in 2002–03, and also the Serie A title in 2003–04 and 2010–11.
In addition to these titles, he also won two Italian Supercups, two UEFA Supercups, and a FIFA Club World Cup. At international level, Gattuso played for the Italy national football team at the 2000 Summer Olympics, three FIFA World Cups, two UEFA European Championships, and the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Did Finidi ever came close to matching such a glorious career mentioned above?
