Mikel Open To Playing In Egyptian Premier League

Former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi says he is open to playing in the Egyptian Premier League, reports Completesports.com.

Mikel is a free agent after leaving Turkish Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor in March.

The midfielder’s contract was terminated following his protest against the continuation of the league despite the spread of coronavirus.

The 31-year-old has been linked with a move to Brazilian clubs, Botafago and Internacional.

With his future yet to be decided, Mikel is not ruling out a potential move to the Egyptian Premier League.

“I never ruled anything out,”Mikel told ON Sports.

“My goal is to continue playing football, and I hope I will have the opportunity, I do not reject any offers made to me, but rather study them well until I make the right decision.”

Mikel also talked about his former Chelsea team-mate, Mohamed Salah, who is today a cult figure in Egypt.

“When Salah came to Chelsea, he was a young boy, but he had a nice personality and everyone loved him, he was very disciplined.

”We were close friends, talking a lot and joking a lot, he was a good friend.”

“I believed in his development, but frankly I did not imagine that he would reach the quality that he has now,” he added.
