Minamino Set For Liverpool Medical Ahead of January Transfer

Red Bull Salzburg’s Japanese star Takumi Minamino will undergo his medical today (Wednesday) at Merseyside ahead of his £7.25 million January move to Liverpool.

According to The Telegraph, Minamino, 24, is hoping to complete the formalities over the next 24 hours before joining Jthe Liverpool squad in January.

The plan is for Minamino to have the necessary assessments on Merseyside, while the senior team remains in Qatar for the FIFA World Club championships.

Liverpool are taking advantage of an attractive clause in Minamino’s contract to pursue a bargain deal for the highly-rated attacking midfielder.

The transfer come on the back of six years of scouting of the player, with Liverpool’s interest intensifying over the last 12 months, after Minamino’s impressive Champions League performances this season.

Minamino scored one of Salzburg’s goals in their thrilling 4-3 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on matchday two of this season’s Champions in October.

Liverpool will also be pleased to have reinforcement in the second half of the season as the club competes at home and in Europe.

Liverpool will be in action on Wednesday night when they face Monterrey of Mexico in the semi-final of the Club World Cup.

The winners between Liverpool and Monterrey will take on Brazil’s Flamengo in the final on Saturday.
