Monaco have signed Atletico Madrid forward Gelson Martins on a permanent five-year contract on the back of a successful loan spell. The 24-year-old Portugal international scored four goals in 16 appearances for Monaco after joining them from the Spanish La Liga side in the January transfer window.

Martins’ performances and goals helped Leonardo Jardim’s side avoid relegation from the French Ligue 1 and has earned him a full-time switch to the Stade Louis II in a deal worth around 30million euros.
“I am very happy to be able to join AS Monaco permanently and I am now very much looking forward to seeing the group again in preparation for the upcoming season,” he said. “Despite the difficult situation, we managed to show some good things last season and I will do everything to help the club achieve its goals this season.”
