Monaco Swoop For Montpellier’s Lecomte

Montpellier goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte has joined French Ligue 1 rivals Monaco on a five-year deal for a reported 13million euros. The 28-year-old, who has been called up to France coach Didier Deschamps’ squad on two occasions but has yet to play for Les Bleus, made 79 appearances for Montpellier after joining them from Lorient in summer 2017.

However, he has now made the move to the Stade Louis II to become Monaco’s first signing of this current transfer window. Looking forward to battling it out with Danijel Subasic for the number one jersey at Monaco, Lecomte told the club’s website: “I am proud to come to Monaco, a big club in the French league.

“It’s a new challenge in my career. I arrive with a lot of motivation and the desire to bring as much as possible to the group. “I hope we all have a great season together. I am now looking forward to joining my new team-mates and starting this new adventure.”
