Former Crystal Palace forward, Clinton Morrison has faulted Chelsea’s decision to offer Cole Palmer another two-year contract.
The new deal sees Palmer extend his previous contract at Stamford Bridge by a further two years as a significant reward for a stellar debut season. The commitment means he is now on a nine-year deal with improved terms at the club.
The 22-year-old England forward, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City on September 1 last year, had an excellent 2023–24 season where he scored 22 times and bagged 33 goal contributions.

However, reacting to the development, Morrison in an interview with Sky Sports stated that the Blues could be making a big mistake with their decision.
“Why would they give him a nine-year deal then?”
“Because they don’t know what they’re doing! I’m not being horrible but you’re talking about nine years’ time! How can you tell how he’s going to be in nine years’ time?
“He’s had an unbelievable season and he is a good player, but this season every team they face, the first thing in the team talk will be ‘stop Cole Palmer playing’ – that’s the thing now, he’s got that the whole time now.
“And now you’re giving him a nine-year contract? Don’t get me wrong, I like him. But they’re giving these players seven, eight, nine-year contracts…”
