Mosimane Reveals Why He Rejected Super Eagles Job

Former South Africa head coach, Pitso Mosimane claimed he recently turned down the chance to manage the Super Eagles.

Mosimane revealed he was contacted by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) but rejected the offer because of his emotional attachment to his country.

South Africa and Nigeria are paired in the same group for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates gaffer said it would be unpatriotic for him to accept Nigeria’s offer.

“The calls were coming from Nigeria, the talks were there. Jay-Jay Okocha was leading this thing, he was begging me. But you know South Africa and Nigeria were in the same group. It’s not too nice, its unpatriotic because I want to see my team in the World Cup,” Mosimane told SNAWA.

“But also, work is work. You can never deny a chance to coach Chukwueze, Osimhen, those players are unbelievable, those guys are top talents I the world.”

He also reflected on the recent outing between South Africa and the Super Eagles.

“In my opinion, Nigeria struggle with the system or shape of how to play. The problem is when you have too many good football players,” he added.

” Its nearly the same as Brazil, where you have too much talent and the coach doesn’t even know who to play and where to play. The coach is impatient when the game is not looking good, and you make changes when you have somebody else on the bench. There’s no patience.”

  • We don’t need you South Africans, you are full of envy and jealousy.
There’s something telling me, the Super Eagles will qualify. The players know what to do. Except CAF deploy conspiracy theory to hurt the Eagles’ train.. I felt it. Victory is coming our way. I just keep getting the same feeling. Nigeria will qualify.

Thank you Pitso. You are a good citizen of your country not like Finidi and the NFF that have no feelings for our country.

As I said few days ago and NFF have reacted to that my comment.

I have four options for them to choose from and now, Pitso is out.

    NFF should consider Renard.

If that is not successful then it should be between Amunike and Siasia.

We don’t need an average white coach like Oga Rohr and Paseiro.

Amunike and Jo Bonfere are available to work together but let hear from Renard first.

Since the Finidi have tender his resignation letter, I believe new Nigeria is possible.

Finidi has setting a new record for every Nigerian. Any one that is serving Nigeria and it is not working out should quit his or her job honorably.

Eguavon, NFF president and co should also resign.
We need the new face of NFF.

Nigeria must rise up. Our sports must rise up again. Super Eagles must be super again.

I still believe Nigeria can qualify for the world cup if we put our house in order kę.

My country people, put your minds at rest. Ęlọfọkanbalę. It is not over yet until it over. I still have so many things to prove to South Africa, Oga Rohr and his followers if the new coach comes in but we don’t want formal Cameroon coach. I can only support the new coach
if he is really good. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

Na mental problem be this abi wetin? Someone mentioning the names of Siasia and Herve Renard in the same statement. Haba! Dey use number 6 an. The same Siasia failed to qualify the Super Eagles for AFCON twice, and their Guardiola Amunike has been jobless for 3 years now.

  • Paseiro or whatever he is called, is not a good coach. Nigeria came second with him at AFCON was more of luck than technical and tactical inputs. If he is brought back, he will not qualify us for the World Cup. I can bet on that.

The only coach who can qualify Nigeria for the World Cup despite the bad situation we have found ourselves right now, is Rohr. Rohr knows our players inside out plus he is a master of qualification. In addition, his break from the team have given him the chance to reflect, analyse and strategize on improving what he had done in the past with the team

Any other coach that is not Rohr, hired by the NFF, whether foreign or local is nothing but another experiment which will very very very likely lead to our failure to qualify. I say this with all certainty and assurance

    • Making it seems like the BENIN dominated and won us hands down, both goals we conceded are avoidable if not for the yeye bassey and all the defenders.

As if you too won Benin hands down…..The goal Benin conceded was not avoidable abi…LMAOoo

Go and deduct 3 points from Benin because they didn’t dominate the game.

Benin 2:1 Nigeria…..That’s all the world cares about.

Omo9ja – you actually said something very important up there (bi ere bi ere) you hit a very important nail on the head ke, You dropped a very strong point when you noted that-

One good thing that has actually come out of the whole Finidi saga is the fact that he actually resigned and quit the post when he saw it wasn’t working out!

Let this be a strong precedent for every other person holding any public post or position of influence in Nigeria from now on – moving forwards-

Let the “Finidi Standard” be a standard that every Nigerian strives to meet from now on!

If you are letting the nation down either because of the results you are achieving for the country or because the people call you out, if the point is made successfully then you must immediately RESIGN – whoever you are!

If we start from there, then we can start slowly building up “accountability” again in this country! Well done Omo9ja for that one!

I think Domenec Torrent or mosimane are just what the super eagles need.

I will choose Domenec Torrent. He is unarguably the best for the super eagles amongst the rest.
