Mounie Rejects Terriers Exit

Huddersfield forward Steve Mounie has reportedly rejected the chance to join Ligue 1 outfit Nice.

The Benin international originally joined Huddersfield for a then club-record fee from Montpellier during the summer of 2017 and he enjoyed a successful first season in English football, scoring seven goals in 28 Premier League appearances as the Terriers preserved their top-flight status.

However, things have not gone so well for Mounie or Huddersfield this season, as he has found the back of the net just once across all competitions, while the Terriers are rooted to the bottom of the table.

New boss Jan Siewert brought in forward Karlan Grant as his first signing earlier this week, which led to speculation that Mounie could be allowed to leave the John Smith’s Stadium.

Nice certainly appeared keen to bring the 24-year-old back to French football, but Mounie himself has reportedly turned down the move and instead looks set to stay and fight for his place at Huddersfield.
