Legendary Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho has called on his compatriot Jose Peseiro to make history in Sunday’s AFCON 2023 final between Nigeria and hosts Côte d’Ivoire on Sunday.
Peseiro has managed to prove his doubters wrong as he guided the Eagles to the final of this year’s tournament.
After a disappointing Group A opener with Equatorial Guinea, Peseiro’s side have gone on a five-game winning run, conceding just two goals.
Standing before Peseiro and the Eagles is the Ivory Coast, who only managed to qualify to the knockout stage as one of the four third best teams.
If the Eagles beat Côte d’Ivoire, Peseiro will become the first-ever Portuguese coach to win the AFCON.

Ahead of the big clash Mourinho in a video on X said:”My best friend in football is in the final, the Nigerian coach is my best friend, he grew up with me.
“We studied together, we went to university the same day, we spent five years together everyday, we left at the same time. He’s probably my biggest friend in football.
“Jose (Peseiro) my big friend and for him a huge opportunity to make history because no Portuguese coach has won the African Cup of Nations.“

There’s nothing to add. Peseiro, over you. Meanwhile, csn we need to see tonight game selection.
Thank you the SPECIAL ONE for recommending GENERAL PESEIRO for us…
Either mourhino is helping out or Peseiro must find a way around the VAR. This is crystal clear because the management of the Elephants are going to throw in everything to secure victory me
Against Angola in the last eight, Osimhen’s powerful header found the top corner via the goalkeeper’s outstretched hand only for a VAR intervention to rule him marginally offside. One round later against South Africa, Osimhen’s late tap-in was overruled in even more contentious circumstances, the goal chalked off and a penalty instead awarded at the other end, resulting in extra time, a shootout and eventual Nigeria progression.
We’re bow here though im still expecting the list of players to execute the game.
Its official the list is out already, according to allnigeria soccer.com. This are the names of players who made the starting line up:nwabali
ajayi ekong bassey
aina iwobi onyeka zaidu
chukwueze osimhen lookman
Thanks
The VAR calls in both matches were spot on. Let me objective enough in our analysis. If the show was on the other leg, would you have said this?
we have once said it here earlier…its either Pesiro is calling Moriho or they are both chatting and Morinho has been guiding our coach on who to use and tactics…becs, its a copy and paste of a typical morinho’s style of play…if Nigeria should score first…gbagbe ….o ti lo
