Musa: Super Eagles Can’t Afford To Miss Out On Qatar 2022

Ahmed Musa insists the Super Eagles cannot afford to miss out on a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, reports Completesports.com.

The Super Eagles will be up against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde in a Group C encounter at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos on Tuesday.

Gernot Rohr’s men top Group C with 12 points, two points more than the Blue Sharks.

A Win or draw against the Blue Sharks will send the three-time African champions to the playoff round of the qualifiers.

The Super Eagles captain is adamant that the big motivation to go all out in Tuesday’s encounter is that a number of players in the squad are yet to feature at the FIFA World Cup finals.

“The FIFA World Cup is the biggest stage for every professional football player. They all want to be there; you don’t need any more motivation than that,”Musa told a news conference at the team’s Eko Hotel and Suites base on Monday afternoon.

” We said after the match with Liberia in Tangier on Saturday that we will not be going for a draw against Cape Verde. Nothing has changed.”

    I pray we win o!

  • They are always full of words but little actions we the game starts. I only pray they back their words with dedicated actions. They should learn from their opponent Cape Verde and see the way they always put great efforts when ever they play against any opponent. I.e Cape Verde Vs Cameron 2021 AFCON Qualifier. Cape Verde Vs Central African Republic etc. They should be extra ordinary careful tomorrow. Remove overconfidence. God bless Nigeria.

    • Nigerians not always comfortable whenever SE approach game lackadaisically. Tension and sadness always envelope everyone

My super eagles line up tomorrow:

    ……………. Okoye…………….

    Awaziem…….. Akpoguma…….Balogun

    Simon.. Ndidi.. Aribo… Ejuke..Aina

    ……….Ighalo… Osimehn……..

    Prediction:NGA 3 VS 0 CVD:

    • According to some news outlets this is the first eleven except for Aina been replaced by zaidu……I think Aina should be deployed in the right wing back position……. Zaidu and Aina can run the channels well and Zaidu has a very venomous cross that can provide something for the attackers to feast on……. Ejuke is more mesmerizing than Iwobi and He can create something out of nothing……I hope it works.

      • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

To be honest apart from the last pass to Osimhen that caused the second penalty. I didn’t really anything better from Ejuke than what Iwobi did before he came on. I don’t think he can ever gel as an attacking midfielder. His best position is on the wings. I may be wrong though but that’s my humble opinion.

        • Dr Banks 2 years ago

That’s very correct @Ayphilydegreat, but his blinded supporters aren’t willing to see the truth. In fact apart from a couple of unproductive dribblings, am yet to see any meaningful impact the guy has made since joining the fray of SE.

Same way they were over the moon about Iwuala prior to this time

          I come in peace ooooo!!!

          • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

“You come in peace” but insult others that they are blinded because their views differ from yours? What a hypocrite…

          • Dennis 2 years ago

Your coach Roar is playing him out of position and you expect him to flourish. Ndo and also your coach has gave him instructions that will only limit his potential. Dr Banks you’re the blind one here sorry to say. I leave in peace

@Abdulhandsy… I salute you for the courage to remove that mediocre Ekong whose coach, Claudio Ranieri, a world class coach has figured he is surplus to requirement in less than a month in charge. I see white people everyday and lightskin no the move me against practical and thorough judgement… I have nothing against anybody but will always call-out ordinary players who have refused to improve blocking channels for others in Super Eagles…

Football fanatics are you envious of where Edo man is? The man means well so why do you try to make it appear he said it out of pride. Nigeria with our mentality or let me say inferiority complex. The problem of this country is Southern Nigeria an Hausa man would never have this mentality football fanatic just exhibited.

        @
footballfanatic, l am too mature to take you serious for anything. If you really live close by, ha , let me know so that l can show you something or two. The way you swear and use f word clearly revealed your personality trait. You seemed like a newbie to me, though. Wish you luck.

      • RESPECT IS RECIPROCAL 2 years ago

FOOTBALLFANATICS LETS SAVE THE DAY AND CONCENTRATE ON THE MATCH COMING UP TOMORROW. SERIOUSLY I CAN NOT SLEEP BECAUSE EAGLES ARE TOO CASUAL THE WAY THEY PLAY. ANYWAY IF NIGERIA WINS I WOULD LOVE YOU INVITE ME TO MARYLAND AS I AM IN BASORUN IBADAN NIGERIA.

    • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Edo man I’m no newbie I just the way I express myself sometimes….I lived in South Beach when I worked in sfl and I still visit sfl regularly as I have family in Miramar. I apologize for my earlier utterances as I was just bored and messing around but on a serious not the whole South Florida was my stomping ground and still is when I’m in town.

      • Edoman 2 years ago

l duly accept your apology my friend. The nature of internet interactions has taken away the impersonal surface of our being. If you ever visit South West Florida again, l am prepared to welcome you and yours to pay me a short visit. l am comfortable enough to let you in. In the meantime, lets pray that Nigeria wins this match later today. God Bless.

        • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Edoman thanks alot…. God bless. I’m guessing Floridians are already bringing out their jackets in that laughable 68 degrees weather lol. I miss the weather in SFL during the fall……. Hope to visit soon again. Goodluck to naija in today’s match. I hope everyone will be smiling at the end of the day.

Wishing the super eagles all the very best today. We are THE SUPER EAGLES. Cape Verde must fall

This Edoman and one mechanic on this page can talk empty. Las las they’re nothing but dry cleaners at Yankee or they’re at one bush somewhere typing nonsense every now and then. Naija I hail Una o

  • @Aphilydegreat, you are so right. That was exactly the same observation I made about Ejuke’s introduction. Things were a bit better when Iwobi was there as he was everywhere coordinating proceedings but after Ejuke came in and made a couple of unsuscessful attempts to dribble, he tried to keep it simple but to be honest, he didn’t have the flair of Iwobi. It may be because he was playing there for the SE for the first time. I dunno. But what I know is that he didn’t do better than Iwobi.
Just as @Dr Bank aptly stated, Ejuke’s dribbles are largely unproductive. And from my observation, he is not a smooth dribbler. That is, most of his dribbles are completed by the whiskers. A lot of times you will think he has been dispossessed, but somehow how, he will manage to complete the dribble.
