‘My Joy Would Have Been Accomplished With A 2022 World Cup Ticket’ –Amoo

Super Eagles midfielder, Akinkunmi Amoo says he’s sad the team failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Amoo was not included in the matchday squad for the 0-0 draw in the first leg in Kumasi last Friday.

The FC Copenhagen star was also an unused substitute in the second leg in Abuja as goals from Thomas Partey and William Troost-Ekong ensured both teams drew as Ghana qualified for the World Cup by away goal.

Reacting to the development, Amoo, in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Thursday, said life is all about learning while apologizing to Nigerians for Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the World Cup.

“Tears and pains, it wasn’t the result we wanted. We apologize for not making it to Qatar. I’m honoured for the opportunity, my joy would have been accomplished with a World Cup ticket,” Amoo wrote on Twitter.

“Life is about learning, we will bounce back from this setback. We appreciate your support.”

Many errors led to SE failure to qualify but the first and biggest error was taking such a crucial match to Abuja. I must confess I lost faith as soon as the venue was announce.Abuja does not have the dreaded fanatic SE fans vibes that will make the home team feel at home and the away team jittery. As we all witness yesterday Ghana were so calm and relaxed. It was just as if it was a neutral ground. Imagine very few were spotted wearing green and white. No singing, no dancing, no cheering , no chantting etc.they were just like Spectators on tourism. It was just like a normal crowd in a neutral ground. Like I always say. The capital of Brazil is Brazila but crucial games are taken to maracana in Rio De jenero, also the Capital of Germany is Berlin but crucial games are taken to Alainz arena in Munich which houses the most dreaded fans of Germany. Even Ghana fought to play in Kumasi instead of Accra. These are countries who understand that role of the 12th player which often leads to home advantage. I’m sure SE will have gotten an away game if that game was played in Accra. May I also shock us here that Ghana fought hard in neutral ground, Abuja because the spirit of Kumasi where their dreaded supporters abode was with them throughout. So Ghana won for them. Not that we don’t have such supporters in Nigeria. We have but not in Abuja. They reside in Calabar, Lagos, Benin, PorHarcourt, Enugu and Kaduna..I have been opportune to witnesses one incident in Calabar where supporters besieged the hotel where SE were lodging as earlier as possible. They were all clad in green and white and started Singing and dancing until game time which was around 5pm. SE cannot help but win For such fans no matter what.Even if it’s you. That’s what we call home advantage .not packing stadium with dead souls with no cheering spirit. NNf pls put on ur thinking caps .Never you ever take crucial games to abuja again.its has a foreign vibe.

If only our stupid Eguashit listens to me. To include this wonderful and skillful young man. Nigeria would have been there. It will not end well with Pinnick, Eguashit, Omo9ja and Odagbemi in Jesus Name.

I’ve never come across a retard like @selfmade in my life before. How can you call your karate-playing national team( Black Stars) masters over Super Eagles when they couldn’t win them (Super Eagles) over two-legged encounters, even in their (Super Eagles) poorest form ever; and only had to scale through to the world cup by some outdated rules.
Go watch Nigeria vs Ghana 2002 world cup qualifying match played at the Liberation stadium in Portharcourt, Nigeria in the year 2001 and learn some tips on how a master is supposed to thrash the sorry ass of his mouthy slave. Come back here and thank me later

I don’t blamed u because eating too much GARI has destroyed ur BOKOM eyes and hence u colored blind haha

I also know that when u lived and stayed in NEPA CONTROLLED LIGHTLESS county for a long time, ur bison becomes blurred haha

Don’t worry fifa ll upload the official match and maybe or hopefully, u can enjoy the full uninterrupted match probably at a FULL CURRENT lol

I don’t begrudged u because the load shedding by NEPA probably made u to watch the match at HALF CURRENT lol

If it comes to real thrashing of the BIG FOR NOTHING naija, I can upload one here for u haha

Didn’t u guys compared this BABE CHICKENS to the 1994 squad?

Hahahaha…what a mentally deranged nincompoop you are!! Even your national team coach whom I suppose should know more about football than you admitted to the superiority of the Super Eagles over your twinkle twinkle Little Stars..lol! He even went as far as saying that the Black Stars were lucky to have gone home unscathed from the encounter. Your barking like a wild, lunatic and lice-infested dog isn’t gonna change the fact that the referee saved your sorry ass from a humiliating home defeat in the hands of Super Eagles at your so-called dreaded and slaughter ground,Babayara Sports Stadium.
Only God knows how many bag-full of red cards you guys will come back home with as souvenirs after the group stage of matches at the world cup with your outdated, archaic and taekwondo-like kind of football you play..lol
Go eat shit cause that’s the only thing you’re very good at and crawl back into your God forsaken hole..lol

    Young man your apology accepted.

  • I don’t just know why this young, strong, energetic and fast moving dribbler (Akin Amoo) was not used as an attacking midfielder with eyes for goal scoring by Eguavoen and the coaching crew.

You don’t have to use him as winger as SE currently has a glut of decent wingers but this guy could be the Creative midfielder that Nigeria has been lacking for somwtime. He only need to work on his passing abilities ( especially long range and defence splitting diagonal passes) to be the finished product.

Whosoever gets the coaching job should to the side of grooming this young talent to be the real McCoy.

This selfmade king is a Nigerian in disguise. He only pretends to be a Ghanaian. He is one of us here. Think about this, if he was a Ghanaian, he would have gone home with them to celebrate their qualification and not hanging with us who are the losers.

Selfmade king is one of us here ha ha. He must be laughing to his groin until he farts. What tribe are you boy.

    • Selfmade KING 2 years ago

      Haha!!

I told u, whenever there are 9 Nigerians, the only Ghanaian among them ll be the KING haha

    Amoo spoke well.
It’s unfortunate that we had a weapon like him that could have been used to trouble the Ghana defense, but the coaches did not have the courage to try him.
Hopefully, we will soon have a new competent NFF. They will organize Grade A friendlies for us, and we will get to see Amoo and other young guns in action.
I think we should forget completely about Olise, Eze and all these foreign born talents that are not interested in playing for us.
If they want to play for us, they should approach us. If not, forget them.
We should be open to guys like Dessers (if he’s still interested) and others like him.
The new NFF should make getting a quality coach for the SE their number one priority.
A quality coach would have gotten us to the Afcon semis and qualified us to Qatar.
    We need a quality coach.

The coach should put this guy amoo. Very young and he can run around. Black coach can’t take Nigeria far

  • Another player who will be jostling to find a home under a future Super Eagles coach.

For Amoo it is a tricky one. Options are actually very competitive in international football for a player of his mould. Playing as a center forward or support striker is out of the question for him when it comes to some national team coaches. The flanks will always be saturated with exciting options and deep center midfield and defensive midfield are a no go area.

Only a coach with an attacking midfield philosophy will look Amoo’s way and there are many of them out there. But, if he is able to wrest the right flank off present and emerging options, then the road to a stable stay in the national team will be available.

But all these are just conjectures. The young man has huge potentials ahead of him in international football. Regular playing time in club football should always bring him in the conversation. If he gets invited for this year’s Afcon qualifiers and he impresses the new coach, he might yet be a main stay.

But I still worry that fierce competition for places might drown him out.

I guess all he needs to do is show versatility. But even at that it will boil down to the tactical underpinnings that governs that coach’s approach.

It will be fascinating to see what the likes of Amoo and others will do in the coming recovery and restoration phase of the Super Eagles in the coming months leading to next summer’s Africa Cup of Nations.
