Ndidi Braced For ‘Tough’ Brighton Challenge

Ndidi Braced For ‘Tough’ Brighton Challenge

Wilfred Ndidi says Leicester City must be at their best when they square up against Brighton & Hove Albion at the AMEX Stadium on Saturday.

The Foxes were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley at the Turf Moor on Wednesday night, a result which put a dent on their top four hopes.

Brendan Rodgers’ men are now without a win in their last two Premier League games.

“We’ll take that because Burnley is always a difficult game, playing away also,” he told LCFC TV.

“It was important for confidence. Moving forward, the confidence is really important so it was very good for us to not lose that one after the previous results.

“I would say, for me, I want to be in the midfield, but it’s for the team. I have to do that. Whichever position the gaffer wants me to play, I will try my best for the team.”

It was Ndidi’s forward ball which led to Kelechi Iheanacho’s stunning volley at Turf Moor and City’s No.25 was pleased to help his friend add his sixth goal of the season in all competitions.

“It was a really fantastic goal,” the former Genk midfielder added. “I’m happy for him. I’m glad I made the assist, but he finished it and it was good for the team, keeping the 1-1.”

Brighton, however, are likely to pose an entirely different challenge for Leicester on Saturday, Ndidi says, as Graham Potter’s men look to pull away from the Premier League’s relegation berths.

“It’s a different game from Burnley, but it’s a game we’ll work for and work our head around and try to do our best,” the 24-year-old explained. “At this time, we have to get as much points as we can.

“It’s the kind of game we’re looking forward to and we’ll see what comes out of it.

“For us, as a team, we know they have a different style, but we always try to adapt. It is a different game. They try to keep the ball but can actually play long balls too.

“It’s these kind of games you have to do your best, stay together and do our best. We just have to take our chances and do our best, play our style and believe in ourselves.”
