Newcastle are understood to be pursuing a deal for AC Milan left-wing back Diego Laxalt in the January transfer window.
Calciomercato claim the Magpies have made an approach to sound out the player’s availability and will, in the next few days, make an official bid to sign the Uruguay international.

Laxalt is primarily known as a left-wing back or winger, but can play left-back – a position Rafa Benitez must address in the January transfer window. However, it would seem that there are still obstacles to overcome if the report is true – one of them being that Laxalt is very happy in Milan.
The player is said to be on good terms with coach Rino Gattuso and would like to stay at the San Siro.
Milan sporting director Leonardo and sporting strategy and development director Paolo Maldini will discuss the player’s future in the next few days, according to reports in Italy.
