Newcastle Must Consider Europa League –Pardew

Former Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has told his former club that playing in the Europa League could be an opportunity to remain in European competition.

Recall that the Magpies are still in the Champions League group stages and in with a chance to progress with one game to go.

However, Pardew in a chat with TalkSports, believes that after the team’s 1-1 draw against PSG, even finishing third may be a decent outcome for their first Champions League campaign in decades.

“If I were Eddie Howe, I’d have one eye on that Europa League spot as well. You want to continue the journey for the fans.

“The fans, you saw them all in the town yesterday. They loved it. They love following the Toon in Europe.

“Champions League? Brilliant. But don’t lose that European spot. Beating AC Milan is key to that. Beat them and you have that for sure.

“Fingers crossed you carry on in this competition (Champions League).”

On 14 September 2022, Pardew was appointed as the new manager of Greek Super League club Aris Thessaloniki, replacing Germán Burgos.

He signed a one-year contract with the option to extend for a further year. He left the club on 23 February 2023 by mutual consent.
