NFF Places Okwaraji, Yekini’s Mothers On Monthly Stipend

The Nigeria Football Federation has placed the mothers of late ex-internationals, Samuel Okwaraji and Rashidi Yekini on a monthly stipend of N30, 000, each, reports Completesports.com.

Sports minister, Sunday Dare announced on Thursday that the ministry has placed the two matriachs, on a monthly stipend of N10,000 each.

The NFF in appreciation of Dare’s gesture has now decided to support the noble initiative and also review the situation of surviving mothers of ex-internationals that died in active service for the country.

“In furtherance to, and in appreciation of, the recent pronouncement of the HM Sports
@SundayDareSD
to put the mothers of late ex-internationals Sam Okwaraji and Rashidi Yekini on a monthly stipend, the NFF has decided to support this noble initiative with a further monthly stipend of N30k to each of the matriachs,”reads a tweet on the NFF’s Twitter handle on Thursday.

” In addition, the NFF will henceforth review the situation of surviving mothers of our ex-internationals that died in active service for the country and resolve what to do for them on monthly basis.”

Late Yekini who died eight years ago in Ibadan after retiring from active football, had a career that spanned more than two decades and was mainly associated with Vitoria de Setubal in Portugal, but he also played in six other foreign countries.

Yekini scored 37 goals for Nigeria from 58 games and represented the nation in five major tournaments, including two World Cups where he scored the country’s first-ever goal in the competition against Bulgaria in the USA 94 World Cup.

He was also named the African Footballer of the Year in 1993.

Okwaraji collapsed ten minutes from the end of a 1990 World Cup qualifier against Angola in Lagos. He died from possible complications of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy as an autopsy showed that the 25-year-old had an enlarged heart and high blood pressure.

He was capped eight times by Nigeria and scored one goal.

  • This is a good gesture though it is very unfortunate the autopsy of late Rasheed Yekeen wasn’t revealed up till now. I think this gesture should also be extended to Igenewari George who was shot during a club match IICC shooting stars

God i give glory to you o. Oh wow, when I’m talking people should listen to me attentively.

My colleagues said on here yesterday that I’m always boasting of myself. They called so many names such as
    liar,
    internet coach,
    Scouter,
    Anti-Rohr
And so on. But today, NFF have heard my voice again and they are going the right direction now.

I said this yesterday or so about late Yekini’s family, Orkwuraji and Keshi’s family deserves to be earning monthly payments from NFF. Now, NFF are waking up.

If you really love your country, you join me to take Nigeria back.

Now tell me if I don’t deserve some class lol. God I thank you so much.

“The Nigeria Football Federation has placed the mothers of late ex-internationals, Samuel Okwaraji and Rashidi Yekini on a monthly stipend of N30, 000, each”,

Although, #30,000 is very ridiculous. I am fighting for these families and I will continue to do so until NFF heared my voice.
They deserve more than this #30,000 every month. NFF, you have to do more.

My advice to coach Rohr fans, use you power to make Nigeria better. You all can see the difference between both parties now lol.

We patriotic Nigerians are making progress every day. We asked NFF that the service of our ex players were needed in Eagles team and
NFF made the introduction of Yobo known to Nigerians as an assistant coach of Mr. Rohr.

We also asked NFF to be careful about coach Rohr’s contract and they are doing just that.

Kudos to every Nigeria that facing the truth. Together we make Nigeria better. Let’s keep up the good work. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
