NFF Should Fire Rohr If He Fails To Win AFCON 2021 –Mabo

NFF Should Fire Rohr If He Fails To Win AFCON 2021 –Mabo

Former Chief Coach of the Super Falcons Ismaila Mabo has backed Nigeria Football Federation to fire Super Eagles gaffer Gernot Rohr if he fails to win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, Completesports.com reports.

Mabo told Completesports.com that it was proper the NFF included the clause that Rohr must win the AFCON and qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, adding that with the Federation paying him so much as salary, he should deliver or get fired

“Rohr has done well so far, but I think after winning a bronze at the AFCON, he should justify his huge wages by going further to win the cup. We have the talents to conquer Africa. We are due for another AFCON win with the talents at his disposal,” Mabo said.

“The NFF were right to order Rohr to win the AFCON and qualify for World Cup and I think the federation should fire him if he fails to win the 4th AFCON for Nigeria. To whom much is given, much is expected, Rohr should win a trophy for the country or get his contract terminated,” he reiterated.

Mabo, a onetime Plateau Highlanders star added: “Rohr, after four years as Super Eagles coach, should be winning titles now as well as improving Nigerian football. He needs to work hard and get his priorities right or he quits.”

Rohr’s contract is open for review ad infinitum. The latest is this brilliant submission. But I think it falls short of a potent revision. If Rohr fails to Win the next AFCON, he should summarily be dismissed and replaced by Mabo.

But this Mano must be stone-heated!

Doesn’t he know that Rohr’s contract was effectively reviewed downwards? He is now being paid in Naira. Plus he must share the money with 4 or 5 assistants. Mabo should rather use his offices to lobby for a cordial working condition for Rohr and the players.

This should be a time of encouragement, strategic ideas, and not threats. Soccer is a sport that is not won on threats, but thorough planning, sound execution of moves with added luck.

    • KingA, those are very strong sentiments expressed by Mr Mabo. As a coach himself, perhaps one would have expected a bit of subtlety. Anyway, those are his views.

You are one person rear to find, you spoke well. Those players will play for the gaffer, I support Rohr all the way.

  • You will know that Mabo does not wish Rorh well. I love a part of the Holy book that says God disappoint the devices of the crafty so that they can not perform their enterprise. God will deliver Rorh from this your evil scheme. god will grant Him victory.

Who is this Mabo? what did he do with Falcons? I hope he has the credentials to talk down a man God has honoured?

In as much as I don’t support the harsh words from Mabo but those of you questioning his achievement must be kindergartens as during his coaching tenure falcons were super and played a tantalizing attacking brand of football that was only seconded by world power houses. Unlike today that we have to be struggling with Cameron or South Africa to win on penalties. Those days we brush African teams by wide goal margins. People will say things have changed but Brazil, France and co keeps getting stronger. Rohr should be respected so should Mabo I’m sure the press intentionally over blew his words just to create drama as usual.

Oga, like you don’t understand simple Q/A!

@Oakfield asked above “To him(Mabo) much was given, What did he win??”

E play tantalizing abi tantalizer Attacking football seconded by World power houses, then he should have won the World Cup na! Or better still advice Coach Gernot Rohr how he can also train his team to play Tantalizing attacking football even though Oga Rohr’s team are not new to that. Chikena

What did he win??? It’s a very simple question. Rohr has won bronze which should not be celebrated but serves as a beacon of hope going by where we were before he took charge but what has this dude won that gives him the impetus to judge others? Aba play, Port win , that one na achievement?????? History would never record how well u played but ur achievements.

  • Winning Awcon is no big deal in Nigeria, mabo should have won the world cup with super falcons or even get to the semi finals, before uttering what he as a coach won’t be Happy when others says this to him

Ismaila Mabo have done two interviews with complete Sports today and on both topics, he has discussed; proved and shown that his opinion and mindset is very unapplauding!!!

As a sport participant in spirit, mind & body, a former coach of the game and as a predefined sportsman with a sheer spirit of sportsmanship, fair play and free-will to compete, it is absolutely improper to make such a comment about a fellow sporting colleague with a “threatening” views on him that a failure will lead to a termination of his job!!

Ismaila Mabo’s comment on Rohr is just like telling Maradona or Baggio not to miss a penalty kick at a crucial time of a match or he is out of the team!!!….it is like telling a Michael Jordan not to miss a free thrown or he will never play for the team again!!! …. it is like telling A Tiger Wood that he must pot that golf ball in the hole or he will lose his sporting contract and endorsements!!!

If Mabo is that compassionate, result oriented and is that someone who actually wanted the best for the Super Eagles and for our country Nigeria; why not simply assist and provide kind elderly and ambassadorial support for Rohr instead of unleashing unnecessary evil pressures on the handler!

I hope these biased and myopic minded men who are fathers to children and elders to the national cause do think and do understands that “Maltreating” and “ill-addressing” a foreigner is okay.
They must not forget that there are lots of our sons and daughters that are based and living as foreigners who were duly allowed to do their respective jobs without undue pressures, threats and unethical job targets and performance expectations.

What I expected from a national personality such as Ismaila Mabo is to advise NFF and all parties involve in the running of the affairs of the National team to duly provide all necessary supports, cooperation and assistance to Rohr in order to take the National team to the next level.

We must know how to treat people, most especially the good foreigners doing a good job in our country.

… “The NFF were right to order Rohr to win the AFCON and qualify for World Cup and I think the federation should fire him if he fails to win the 4th AFCON for Nigeria. To whom much is given, much is expected, Rohr should win a trophy for the country or get his contract terminated” …

This is a HIGHLY unprecedented and disheartening Statement!!!
