NFF, Sports Minister Condole With Rangers Over George’s Death 

The Nigeria Football Federation and Minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare have sent condolence messages to Enugu Rangers, over the death of their player Ifeanyi George who was involved in an auto crash on Sunday, Completesports.com reports.

George was killed alongside Rangers youth player Emmanuel Ogbu and a friend of his at Abudu area in Edo State.

It was gathered that George rammed his car into a trailer that was packed along the road.

The 26-year-old former Enyimba player was on his way to Lagos from Enugu, following the suspension of the Nigerian Professional Football League due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Reacting to the sad news the NFF wrote on their verified Twitter handle: “We are shocked to hear of the sad passing of striker Ifeanyi George and Emmanuel Ogbu players of @rangersint. Both players were involved in a fatal auto crash earlier on Sunday. Our prayers and thoughts are with their families and Rangers’ Mgt. May their souls Rest In Peace.” 

And according to Dare: “Sad day for football. Again, the death of Ifeanyi George of Rangers International, Enugu in a ghastly motor accident concentrates the mind. A very painful death. Emmanuel Ogbu, a youth footballer died along with Ifeanyi May God console their families. I share in their grief.”
