NNL: Okaro Delighted With Debut Win With Nnewi United Vs Rovers

Benjamin Okaro, a former Enugu Rangers player and onetime Nigeria international, has voiced his delight in starting his coaching job at Nnewi United, a second tier domestic football league side on a winning note, Completesports.com reports exclusively.

A goal by Chinaza Miracle Nwautobo in either half of the thrilling Southern Conference Group B fixture against Rovers FC handed the Anaedo Lions all three points on offer in their opening match of the campaign after staying out action last week on account of their being bye on matchday-one.

Okaro reckons it was a good result to take into a campaign laced with huge expectation and ambition.

“I’m happy we won, its our first match of the season and you know Rovers are a strong side, so I’m delighted to win my first match”, Okaro who mounted the technical saddle of Nnewi United three months ago told Completesports.com.

“It is important we started off with a win. We are looking forward to winning two games on the bounce and then you would see the confidence of the players come up.

“I’m very much happy and proud of the players we’ve in this team. I strongly believe we gonna get better, game by game.”

Okaro who holds United States Soccer Federation (USSF) coaching license had earlier revealed his ambition at the Nnewi side, saying he wants to lead them to the NPFL next term.

He had equally disclosed he would be disappointed if he fails to accomplish that target at the close of the season.

“You know there is only one promotion ticket to fight for in each of the groups. So that’s our ultimate aim.

“Yes, I said it earlier, I will be disappointed if we fail to make it. And I still stand by my words”, Okaro stressed with a smile of optimism.
