Wikki Tourists Football Club’s management board has been dissolved by the Bauchi State Government with immediate effect, Completesports.com reports.
This follows the club’s dismal performance in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, which culminated in its relegation to the Nigeria National League (NNL).
Wikki Tourists Shake-Up Follows NPFL Relegation
A statement signed by Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Bala Mohammed, said the Governor approved the dissolution after a comprehensive review of the club’s performance last season against the backdrop of various interventions undertaken by the government to preserve the club’s top-flight status.

Alhaji Haruna Bako, a former Bauchi State Director of Sports, has been appointed as the club’s Interim Sole Administrator, replacing Salmanu Abubakar, the former Chairman of Wikki Tourists FC.
Government Targets Immediate Return To Top Flight
“The decision reflects the Government’s determination to reposition Wikki Tourists Football Club, restore public confidence in the management of the club, and lay a solid foundation for its immediate return to the elite division of Nigerian football,” the statement read.
Wikki Tourists Interim Sole Administrator Takes Charge
“In the overriding interest of the club, His Excellency has approved the appointment of Alhaji Haruna Bako, former Bauchi State Director of Sports, as the Interim Sole Administrator of Wikki Tourists Football Club pending the constitution of a substantive management.
“The Interim Sole Administrator is expected to immediately assume responsibility for the administration of the club, oversee the handover of all operations, assets, records and liabilities, and initiate measures aimed at repositioning the club for improved performance and a successful campaign in the forthcoming Nigeria National League season.”
