No Quick Fix For Parker

No Quick Fix For Parker

Fulham caretaker manager Scott Parker feels it is better to plan for the long term than put “short fixes” in place. The Cottagers are on the brink of relegation straight back to the Championship and will fall through the Premier League trap door if they lose at Watford on Tuesday night.

Parker has been promoted to the top job to try and stop the bleeding after Slavisa Jokanovic and Claudio Ranieri both failed to achieve any success with the west Londoners this season. Inevitably thoughts have turned to next season and a possible promotion push, but Parker does not feel a policy of throwing all the club’s resources at going straight back up is necessarily the best option.

“There’s no short fix to creating a successful football club and that’s whether it’s one in the Premier League or trying to get to the Premier League,” he said. “Ultimately, short fixes get you there but they don’t always keep you there.” Fulham have won just four top-flight games this term and will surely follow Huddersfield Town in dropping down a division.
