Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo says they will get behind Taiwo Awoniyi after his penalty miss against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup.
Forest lost 4-3 on penalties to the visitors in a Carabao Cup second round tie at the City Ground on Wednesday.
Both teams battled to a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Awoniyi and Ibrahim Sangare failed to score from 12 yards.
“It was good. In the end it was clear he (Awoniyi) was lacking some energy but he worked very hard until the end,” Santo said after the game.
“He had two or three good chances to finish. We want to give Taiwo this opportunity to raise his levels of fitness because the talent is there.
“Always, you cannot ignore the (penalty) moment for all of us, especially for the player involved in that situation. But we are here to support him and we don’t have too much time for sorrow because we go again on Saturday.”

This is proper coach behaviour. Even if you’re disappointed in the player, don’t throw him under the bus in public. Vent your frustration in private, behind closed doors.
