Nottingham Forest Interested In Another Super Eagles Star

Newly promoted Nottingham Forest have set their sights on another Super Eagles star as they are now firmly in the race for Joe Aribo.

On Saturday, Nottingham Forest confirmed the £17million record signing of Taiwo Awoniyi from Bundesliga side Union Berlin.

Crystal Palace and Premier League new boys Fulham are already in the market for Aribo who has proven his fitness credentials during the season just gone, playing over 70 times for club and country in a campaign that included a goal in May’s Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt, which was eventually lost on penalties.

Aribo is one of three major Rangers players entering the final year of their contracts with Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos in the same situation.

After 23 years out of the English top flight, billionaire Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is determined to make sure they avoid returning to the Championship.

And according to the Scottish Sun, he has now given manager Steve Cooper the green light to pursue his interest in Aribo.

The 25-year-old was impressive for Rangers last season, helping them to the Europa League and Scottish Cup finals.

He also featured for the Eagles in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone and São Tomé and Principe.
