Katsina United have announced the death of their newly signed player, Chinedu Ozoh, Completesports.com reports.
Ozoh passed away following a medical emergency during the club’s pre-season friendly against Niger Tornadoes at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina, on Tuesday.
The Ikon Allah Boys confirmed the tragic news in a statement on their official X account.
“We mourn the tragic passing of our newly signed player, Ozoh Chinedu, following a medical emergency during today’s friendly match against Niger Tornadoes FC,” the club stated.
“Our thoughts, prayers, and strength are with his family and loved ones. Rest on Warrior.”
Ozoh recently joined Katsina United from fellow Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, club Kano Pillars.
The NPFL also expressed its condolences to Katsina United and the player’s family following his death.
“Katsina Utd new signing Chinedu Ozoh passed away today due to a medical emergency during a pre-season friendly vs Niger Tornadoes,” the NPFL stated on X.
“He was rushed to a specialist hospital but sadly died. Our condolences to his family, teammates and the club.”
