NPFL: MFM Hold Enyimba, El-Kanemi End Akwa United Winning Streak

MFM extended their winless streak against Enyimba to seven games after both teams battled to a 1-1 draw in their NPFL matchday-13 encounter at the Agege Stadium on Sunday,  reports Completesports.com.

 

 

 

Abdulrahmam Bashir volleyed the ball home three minutes after the break to give the visitors the lead.

 

 

 

MFM equalised through Chijoke Akuneto in the 65th minute who finished expertly  from Akanni Elijah’s cross.

 

 

The Olukoya Boys maintained top position in the table with 23 points from 13 games with Enyimba who are three points adrift  in second position from the same number of matches.

 

 

In Group B,  Akwa United suffered their first defeat in nine games following a 4-1 loss to El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri.

 

 

Kabiru Balogun,  Sanni Abbani,  Sunday Anthony and Bello Kofarmata (penalty) were on target for  the home team,  while Godspower Aniefiok got the consolation goal for Akwa United.

 

 

 

Rivers United ended their three  games winless streak after picking a 1-0 away win against Remo Stars in Shagamu.

 

 

Justice Charles  scored the winning goal for the away team  20 minutes from time.

 

 

 

Champions Lobi Stars fell to a 2-0 defeat against Katsina United with Tasiu Lawal and Bashir Sheriff getting the goals.

 

 

 

At the Okigwe Township Stadium,  Heartland edged out Kano Pillars 2-1.

 

 

 

Okoko Emmanuel put Heartland ahead in the 12th minute, while Rabiu Ali equalised for the Pillars in the 23rd minute.

 

 

 

Ibrahim Idrissu own goal five minutes from time hand the Naze Millionaires all three points in the game.

 

 

 

In Nnewi,   FC IfeanyiUbah beat Plateau United 1-0 with Uche Ihuarulam scoring the winner 14 minutes from time,  while Sunshine Stars also defeated Kwara United courtesy of Micheal Egbeta’s 60th minute strike.

 

 

 

Nasarawa United  secured the  only away win  of the week edging out Abia Warriors 1-0 in Umuahia with Sanusi Ibrahim netting the only goal of the game 25 minutes from time.

 

 

 

Bendel Insurance beat Wikki Tourists 2-0 at the University of Benin Football Stadium.

 

 

 

Junior Osagie and Adimorama Eze got the goals for the home team.
