Plateau United and Mighty Jets began their campaigns at the 2026 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Invitational Pre-season Tournament on winning notes,reports Completesports.com.
In the opening game of the tournament, Plateau United secured a 1-0 victory over last season’s NPFL runners-up, Rivers United.
Jubril Ibrahim scored the decisive goal in the 29th minute to hand Plateau United maximum points.
In the day’s second fixture, Mighty Jets also recorded a narrow 1-0 win over El-Kanemi Warriors.

Usman Meyanga netted the winning goal in the 56th minute after capitalising on an error by the El-Kanemi Warriors goalkeeper.
Action will continue in the tournament on Thursday, with Katsina United taking on El-Kanemi Warriors in the first game of the day.
Reigning NPFL champions Rangers will then face Rivers United in what promises to be an exciting encounter.
The Super Six Invitational Tournament is primarily designed to help Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF inter-club competitions fine-tune their preparations ahead of their preliminary-round fixtures.
