Rivers United head coach, Finidi George says his side will be ready for Thursday’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday seven encounter against Shooting Stars.
The Port Harcourt club made a long trip to Katsina United where they played a 0-0 draw last weekend.
Finidi acknowledged the importance of managing his players to avoid burnouts
“We’ll plan carefully to ensure the boys recover properly after the two-day journey. It’s not easy being on the road, but we’ll get them ready for Shooting Stars,” he told Rivers United Media.

Finidi also reflected on the game against Katsina United.
“It was a good game, despite the very hot weather. If you look at the first half, we deserved to score at least two goals. We didn’t take our chances, and in the second half, they pushed hard, but we still had one moment – Kabir’s shot, which could have resulted in a goal.
“It was more pressure on us, but we contained them, having one chance to score in the second half that didn’t materialize. Considering both halves, I’d say we deserved to win, but football being what it is, especially in an away match, I think one point is well-deserved.
“I won’t ask for more, although I wanted the three points. This is a difficult place to come and earn a point, so we’re happy with it,” said Finidi.
