Super Eagles defender Chibuike Nwaiwu received a major personal boost ahead of the Unity Cup final against Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz, as he became a father a few days before the highly anticipated encounter.
Trabzonspor, Nwaiwu’s Turkish Super Lig club, announced the arrival of the defender’s baby girl, who has been named Jacinta.
“Our football player Chibuike Nwaiwu and Melissa couple had a daughter today,” reads a statement on Trabzonspor’s official website.
“We wholeheartedly congratulate Chibuike Nwaiwu on the joy of becoming a father and wish their little one, whom they named Jacinta, a healthy and happy life.”
Nwaiwu Ready For Jamaica Showdown

The former Enyimba centre-back is expected to retain his place in the team for Saturday night’s final against the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica at The Valley.
Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle could name an unchanged starting line-up for the encounter following his side’s impressive performance against Zimbabwe.
Rise To Stardom
Nwaiwu has continued to make remarkable progress since moving to Europe following his departure from nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions Enyimba in 2024.
The centre-back quickly established himself as a key player at Austrian side Wolfsberger AC, helping the club win the Austrian Cup during the 2024/25 season.
His impressive performances earned him a move to Turkish Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor in January, where he played an important role in the club’s third-place finish in the league.
The former Heartland defender also added another trophy to his collection, helping the Black Sea Storm lift the Turkish Cup.
