Bayelsa Queens head coach Whyte Ogbonda says his team is motivated to come out tops at the 2025 Nigeria Women Football, NWFL, Super Six playoff.
The Prosperity Girls started their campaign on a winning note, edging past Rivers Angels 1-0 in Ikenne on Saturday.
Alaba Olabiyi scored the winning goal in the 34th minute.
The forward latched onto a precise through-ball from Mercy Omokwo to fire a shot past Rivers Angels goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi.
“The victory will encourage my players to work harder in subsequent matches and I know they will not be complacent when they take on their next opponent,” Ogbonda told the club’s media.
“The biggest motivation for my players is psychological and monetary from the Bayelsa State Government as everything needed for this tournament has been provided.”
Bayelsa Queens will take on Nasarawa Amazons in their next game on Monday.
