Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell will miss this year’s World Cup in Qatar due to hamstring injury.
The Blues confirmed this in a statement released on their website on Saturday.
Chilwell picked up the injury in Chelsea’s last group game against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
The statement read:”Following the injury sustained in our recent game against Dinamo Zagreb, Ben has undergone a scan on his hamstring.
“Results show that Ben has suffered a significant injury and the defender is unfortunately expected to miss the World Cup.
“Ben will now begin a rehabilitation programme with the club’s medical department.”
This is another setback for England ahead of the World Cup following injuries to Kyle Walker and Reece James.
The World Cup starts on November 20th with England opening their campaign on the 21st against Iran.
