OFFICIAL: Iwobi’s Everton Manager Benitez Sacked

Alex Iwobi will be playing under a new manager at Everton after Rafael Benitez was sacked on Sunday, after just six-and-a-half months in charge following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Norwich.

The Toffees confirmed Benitez’s sack in a short statement on their official website.

Everton have won just once in the Premier League since September and are 15th in the table, six points above the relegation zone.

The statement read:”Everton Football Club can confirm the departure of Rafael Benitez as First Team manager.

“Benitez, who joined Everton in June 2021, has left the Club with immediate effect.

“An update on a permanent replacement will be made in due course.”

Under Benitez, Iwobi scored just one goal in 13 Premier League games this season.

Benitez was appointed Everton boss last summer but the Spaniard has failed to win over the Goodison Park faithful.

Everton fans displayed a banner calling for his exit during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Norwich. The same banner was also unfurled at their 3-2 FA Cup third-round win at Hull.

Everton have lost nine of their past 13 league games, including a 4-1 home defeat by Merseyside rivals Liverpool and a 5-2 home defeat against relegation strugglers Watford.

Benitez and Moyes are like couples, they always start well and end up messing up. It’s time for them to leave the stage and enjoy retirement.

  • Which messing up? He is a great coach no matter what things didn’t work out after fine start and that is what we have always been telling you coaching job is like that at times. Did you see the board throwing banters at him when it’s time to say bye bye they did it once and for all with a handshake that is how a good and organise board does and you will never hear them talking about him again because the chapter has been closed. The same Benitez did a brilliant job at Newcastle and he is a legend there just to remind you of his recent job though and for your information Moyes is presently doing a good job at Westham United too.
