OFFICIAL : Samuel Kalu Joins Watford From Bordeaux

Watford have announced the signing of Nigeria winger Samuel Kalu on a deal until June 2025 from Ligue 1 outfit Girondos Bordeaux, reports Completesports.com.

He is the Hornets fourth signing of the January window following the arrival of full-back Hassane Kamara, central defender Samir and midfielder Edo Kayembe .

“The 24-year-old signs for the Hornets following three-and-a-half successful years in France’s top tier, where he scored nine goals,”reads a statement on the club’s official website.

“Capable of playing on either flank, Kalu is a versatile option in a competitive squad, typically operating on the right wing.

“The quick-footed attacker first played for Slovakian side AS Trenčín after moving to Europe from his native Nigeria, and earned a switch to Belgian giants KAA Gent in 2017 following impressive performances. He then joined Bordeaux in August 2018, where he has since made 86 appearances for Les Girondins.

“Kalu also has plenty of experience at European and international level, having played Europa League and Champions League qualifying football at his three previous clubs. Making his Super Eagles debut in September 2018, the winger also has 17 caps for Nigeria, scoring on his last competitive start against Benin.

He will wear the number 28 at Watford.

Samuel Kalu was definitely sorely missed during the AFCON as barring injuries and other health challenges, he was a capapble replacement or will go toe to toe with both Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon. He offers versatility on either flank and is aa better dead ball artist than MOSES Simon.

I wish him all the luck as he makes his bow in the most watched League championship in the world!

Only wondering how WATFORD intends to use him, Ibrahim Sarr and Emmanuel Dennis.

I see Watford staying up. Cant wait to see boring, one dimensional BURNLEY go down alongside NORWICH and any one other team rather than Brentford, of course for sentiments sake. Lol

  • This is a last push by Watford to avoid the drop…….They hired Roy Hogson and brought it 4 new signings…….I sincerely hope they avoid the drop this season.

    • Me too, if it is they drop they can come back immediately it’s still okay. But the championship is very hard they make not make back to the premier league with our players in it
