Ogu: Super Eagles Are Making Steady Progress

Hapoel Beer Sheva midfielder John Ogu believes the Super Eagles are making steady progress after been ranked the third best team in Africa in the latest FIFA Ranking reports Completesports.com.

The Super Eagles moved up four places from 46th in the world to the 42nd position while in Africa, the Super Eagles maintained its third position on the ladder just behind Senegal and Tunisia respectively.

In March, Gernot Rohr’s men played two competitive games against Seychelles and Egypt recording wins in both games.

The Super Eagles beat Seychelles 3-1 in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match before edging Egypt 1-0 three days later in an international friendly.

“Nigeria’s Super Eagles ranked third in Africa and 42 in the world. Moving forward,” the 30-year-old wrote via his Instagram page on Saturday.

The Super Eagles already through to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament are unbeaten in their last six games winning three and drawing two.

Ogu featured in three of those games.

The three-time AFCON winners have been drawn in pot 2 of alongside Morocco, Algeria, DR Congo, Mali, and Guinea ahead of the draws which hold on the 12th of April in Cairo, Egypt.
