Ogunbote: Rangers Careless In Conceding Unfortunate Defeat To Enyimba In Aba

Enugu Rangers head coach Gbenga Ogunbote admits his players were careless and conceded two quick goals in the first half of their Sunday’s oriental derby loss to Enyimba in Aba, reports Completesports.com.

Rangers suffered their third straight loss in the Nigeria Professional Football League following their 3-1 defeat to Enyimba.

Despite the derby defeat, Ogunbote’s Flying Antelopes remain top of the NPFL Group A table with 31 points from 17 games.

Ifeanyi Anaemena scored twice for Rangers while midfielder Jean-Marie Guera scored the third goal for Enyimba who extended their unbeaten streak to 12 games.

Though Godwin Aguda got a goal back for Rangers, his effort was just a consolation for the visitors.

The Rangers’ gaffer says it’s unfortunate his side is now going through a bad patch after initially going 13 games without defeat.

“Well, sometimes it’s like that. We had three straight draws on the road, three straight wins and now, three straight losses,” Ogunbote told reporters after the game.

“It is quite unfortunate. This is not good for us. We were careless in conceding the first two goals, but we take the positives and work our way back to our winning ways going into the super-six.”

The Coal City side will host Kwara United in their next league fixture at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu on Sunday.
