Ex-Eagles Midfielder Okaro Assumes Duties As Nnewi United Coach, Conducts Screening Exercise

One-time Green Eagles and Enugu Rangers International midfielder, Benjamin Okaro has assumed duties as Nnewi United Technical Adviser, starting with screening of players ahead the 2018/2019 Bet9ja Nigeria National League, (NNL) season which kicks off in March, Completesports.com reports.

Okaro, who arrived from his base in the United States of America, USA, at the weekend replaces erstwhile stop-gap manager, Anayo Offor, who took up the transit role following the departure of former boss, Willy Udube to NPFL side, Go Round FC, Omoku, Rivers State.

Okaro was unveiled Monday at the club’s training base, Rojenny Stadium, Oba, Onitsha, by the Sporting Director, Olisa Onuchukwu.use

Okaro arrives with a rich coaching credentials, and the club’s hierarchy believe his resourcefulness will boost their quest to make the big leap to the top flight.

Having earlier landed a partnership deal with indigenous lubricant giants, Sea Horse, Nnewi United Sporting Director, Olisa Onuchukwu, says the club has a bright prospect in the coming campaign.

Okaro has indicated his desire to hit the ground running by dropping five players after their morning training match against a local side.

“That you are dropped does not mean you are not good enough but just that we’ve got options since we cannot take all the players in same position,” Okaro told the players.

He pruned the team’s numerical strength to 25 players even though there are speculation that more would arrive for a similar look-in before the team conclude their screening exercise this weekend.
